Easily associate items to operations

Previously, it took several clicks to open the routing and add or adjust required items. It was clunky and easy to make mistakes.

We’ve added a new feature that lets you associate items to operations, right inside the BOM & Routing editor. This lets you:

  • (A) Add an operation association directly from the BOM.
  • (B) Unlink an item from an operation.
  • Add an item to the BOM, go into the routing, and see those items listed as options to set as required for an operation.

We’ve also made updates to establish closer connections between items and operations.

Previously, you could end up in a situation where the BOM and required items for the operation did not match. If you delete an item from the BOM, the item will delete from the required items within the routing as well (and vice versa).

(C) We’ve added an indicator for the operation an item is associated with to make this connection clear and help avoid this mistake.

Integration Sync Error Messages

Error messages that are related to Sales Order/Purchase Order receiving records will now be visible on:

  • the parent record (the SO/PO affected)
  • the receiving grid itself
  • on the PO grid listing.

Previously, in some cases, there were errors that showed on the integration configuration page but not on the associated record. This update should help call-out integration notifications/warnings related to receiving(s) without having to go to the Sync Warnings on the integration configuration page.

Search Job Operations Panel

You can now search operations and materials on the Job Details page! This update is especially helpful if you have large BOM & routings. Operation search will filter on:

  • Item to make name & description
  • Operation name
  • Equipment name (includes equipment, multiple equipment, and scheduled equipment, which all influence the value you see in that field)

Additional usability improvements to this page:

  • You can now navigate to items from the operation and materials wherever you see them
  • Clicking on notes will auto-expand the operation panel (previously, this took two clicks)

Attachments in Job Tracking

With this update, attachments are presented by type, starting with the most specific and relevant attachments to the operation open (attachments tied to operation and subassembly) at the top. Users will now also have the option to toggle between a list view and a tile view for an at-a-glance or more detailed view.

Creating Quotes & Sales Orders

Software should enable you to do more, not get in the way. We’re on a quest to find more ways to make using Fulcrum natural, starting with small but mighty changes like this one: We’ve removed a modal that popped up when creating a Sales Order or Quote and replaced it with a slide panel that lets you interact with the rest of the page, similar to other areas of Fulcrum, like Purchasing Planning. Keep out for more small but mighty experience updates like this in the coming weeks.

Accessing Schedule Data via Public API

We've updated the jobs endpoint on the public API to show scheduler information.

The exact changes to the endpoints are as follows:

  • Scheduled start time, scheduled end time, and scheduled equipment ID added to the job item-to-make operation List/Read endpoints
  • Deprecated the status field in favor of statuses in the request body schema for job List endpoint so that more than 1 job status can be filtered for at a time. status is Scheduled for removal EOD 2023-10-31.
  • Added the hasIncompleteOperations parameter in the request body schema to the job List endpoint to filter for jobs with incomplete operations.

Customers who want to access the schedule information exactly as seen on the schedule page can pass the following request body into the jobs list endpoint:

{ "statuses": ["scheduled", "inProgress"], "hasIncompleteOperations": true}
