Webhook Update

We’re making a technical change to how Webhooks sent from Fulcrum work. Currently, by default Webhooks will always return the full content of the relevant entity. For example, the body of a Webhook for Job Approval would by default include all of the data for that job. In addition to sending much more data than the consumer needs, this behavior negatively impacts the performance of Fulcrum’s site by making unnecessary queries to the database.

Going forward, newly created Webhooks will only contain the ID of the entity. If additional information about that entity is required, please use the public API to fetch that information. Using the public API has the additional requirement of having a stable schema.

This change does not impact Webhooks that have already been created.

NCR Titles

When looking at the NCR grid in the quality module, it wasn’t easy to tell which NCR was for which event. Now, NCRs have a new ‘Title’ field. This can be used to add a short title or description for identifying the NCR and will appear in the grid view.

Job Audit Log

You can now view an audit log of changes made to a job, similar to the change history recorded on items, sales orders and quotes. Hover over the Last Updated [Date, Time] below the job number and click View Audit Log for a history of changes from job creation including edits to the BOM and Routing, quantity and due date.

More Materials Options in the Material Database

We’ve been hard at work at adding a material database to Fulcrum. This feature changes the way that Fulcrum manages raw material and drives powerful features such as nesting and remnants. We’ve significantly increased the materials captured in the material database and will be further expanding this in the next few weeks! The materials database already had the below forms of steel, stainless steel and aluminum:

  • Sheet & Plate
  • Round Bar

Below are the forms recently added for steel, stainless steel and aluminum:

  • Tread Plate
  • Square Bar
  • Wide Bar
  • Flat Bar
  • Rectangular Bar
  • Hex Bar
  • Square Tube
  • Rectangular Tube
  • Angle
  • Channel
  • Beam (SBeam, HBeam, WBeam)
  • Tee Bar

Push Quantity Updates from Sales Orders to Jobs

We're enhancing Fulcrum's handling of order changes by improving the link between Sales Orders and Jobs. Now, updating the quantity on a Sales Order Line Item will automatically update the linked job's quantity if the job is under review or in engineering status. We're working to expand this functionality further.

Clearer linking between Sales Orders, NCRs, and CAPAs

The “Associated Records” sections on the Sales Order page will now link to NCRs and CAPAs tied to that Sales Order.

External Notifications for NCRs and CAPAs

Fulcrum sites using SQL can send automatic emails or Slack/Teams messages, now including NCRs and CAPAs. We're in the process of migrating all sites to SQL, but let us know if you'd like to migrate sooner to access this feature!

Adding Time Records by Duration

Operators are human, and sometimes forget to start a timer.  This is fixable by going to Live > Time Management > Add Record.  Previously, however, an exact start and end time was needed.  With this release, you can alternatively enter a start time and duration when adding new time records.

Routing Import // Export Improvements: Single Item Export

Oftentimes, you may not want or need to export the routing for all of your items; you may be focusing on a specific item.  Previously, you would have had to export all routings, then filter and delete the extra rows.  Now, from the ‘Production’ tab of a Make item, you can export the BOM and Routing for that item (and its subcomponents).

Routing Import // Export Improvements: Include Missing BOM/Routings, "CopyFrom" Column on Routing Import

Include Missing BOM // Routings on Export: Previously, the BOM and Routing export excluded items without BOMs or routing steps. Now, the export includes these items, making it easier to identify and correct missing information.

“CopyFrom” Column on Routing Import: Fulcrum offers tools like the AI BOM Importer and SolidWorks Pack’n’Go for importing BOMs, but they lack routing step data. Previously, routing could only be copied in-app via right-click > import. Now, you can do this via import by adding a NumberAndRevision in the “CopyFrom” column on the routing tab to copy operations from another item.
Here's a video combining a couple of these new tools:

Push Item BOM and Routing Updates to Orders and Jobs

We’ve made it easier to manage your BOM and Routings. Previously, when you made a change to the BOM and Routing for an item, there was no easy way to apply those changes to existing orders and jobs. Now, when on the item page you’ll see an “Update Options” button. Clicking that will give you the opportunity to apply those changes to existing sales orders, quotes and jobs, so long as those records aren’t closed or in progress.

Updated Role and Permissions Editor

We’ve updated Fulcrum’s role and permissions editor. For the most part, things will work the same as before but with an updated appearance to be in line with the rest of Fulcrum. The biggest change is that now it will be much clearer which permissions are required by other permissions that you’ve granted to the role.

Updated CAPA Editor

We’ve given the CAPA editor a brand new look. All of the existing functionality will still be present, but the UI has been updated to fit in with the rest of the Fulcrum system.

BOM Importer

We’re rolling out our Bill of Materials (BOM) Importer to all customers next Tuesday, December 10th. This will allow you to upload a drawing file to automatically generate a BOM. Our goal with this is to help speed up quoting and item creation. Since the beta was released, we’ve made enhancements to the UI, moving it more center stage in the Quoting and Sales Order pages so you stay oriented / keep context of the work you’re doing.

To use this feature, select ‘Add New Item' from the summary dropdown and you’ll see the importer above the section where you create a new item. We list the compatible image and file types that you can drag in / upload and AI will then parse the file to create a bill of materials for that item. It will either create new items or match ones already existing in fulcrum and from there you can edit details, replace an item with one in your system, or detach items from ones we matched. Video for a workflow overview!
