Sales Order Quantity Editing

We've significantly expanded the ability to edit line item quantities on sales orders — including orders that are already in progress with active jobs, shipments, and invoices.

Previously, quantity editing was limited to early-stage orders. Now, changes cascade across jobs, shipments, and invoices with built-in guardrails to keep everything in sync.

This feature is currently in beta. Contact your Launch Manager or Account Manager to opt in.

What's New

Edit quantities on in-progress sales orders — Quantity fields are editable on Draft, Needs Approval, and In Progress sales orders. Just change the number and save. Quantities can also be decreased to zero to effectively cancel a line item.

Downstream updates:

Jobs

As before, if a line item has a single job in Needs Review or Engineering, the job quantity auto-updates. Now, when quantities can't auto-update (multiple jobs, job further along in production, etc.), you'll now see mismatch warnings on related jobs instead of silent drift.

Shipments

If a packing slip is Fully Packed, the packed status is removed and pieces ordered updates to the new quantity. If items have already shipped, increasing the quantity creates a new packing slip for the difference. You can't decrease below what's already been shipped.

Invoices

Behavior depends on your "Invoice Shipped Quantity" setting:

Off — Invoice quantities update in lockstep with the SO. Open, Needs Approval, and Approved invoices update automatically. Issued or Paid invoices are protected — increases create a new invoice for the difference, decreases are blocked.

On — Invoices are driven by shipping, not the SO. Quantity changes on the SO do not touch invoices.

Quantity mismatch indicators

When the SO quantity and total job quantity don't match, you'll see warnings on both the sales order page (next to the quantity field and on the associated jobs panel) and the job detail page (notification banner and warning icon on the quantity input). These help your team quickly spot line items that need attention after a quantity change.

Guardrails

  • Can't decrease below what's already been shipped
  • Can't decrease below what's already been packed — unpack the items first, then decrease
  • Can't decrease below what's already been invoiced
  • Can't edit quantities on completed sales orders
  • Can't zero out a line item if it has an active job — cancel the job first

Control: Bubble Reader Update: Unilateral Tolerances

The bubbler now supports describing checkpoints using a min only, max only, or a min and max (without a target). Similarly, the AI bubbler will pick that up, as well as read unilateral tolerances +/+ and -/-. Ex. 4.00 -0.01/-0.03

Control: PDF Rotation

You can now rotate PDFs in the annotation bubbler, and it will save the rotation to the PDF directly. It will also rotate any annotations that have already been added.   This release also allows job operators to rotate annotated PDFs in the job tracker (though this will not directly update the PDF, just allow them to view it at a different rotation leaving the original PDF alone).

Control: Bubbler Shortcuts

Quality of life updates:

  • In bubble mode you can now immediately start clicking, holding and dragging the cursor to define the GDT snippet area. We will auto place the bubble in the top left corner of where you start.
  • You can now cycle through bubbles on the document with TAB and SHIFT + TAB.
  • You can delete selected bubbles by pressing the DEL key.
  • Added a small UI element at the top of the Quality drawing viewer to make shortcuts more discoverable

New PDF Viewer

Chrome’s default PDF viewer occasionally shows an error like “Your browser does not support PDFs”. This was annoying, so we replaced it with our own PDF viewer! The new PDF viewer is used in all places where we show PDFs that you have uploaded (Sales Orders, Quotes, Items, etc). In particular:

  • This will work on all devices, all browsers (instead of just Chrome)
  • You will no longer see "This browser does not support PDFs"
  • Rotating the PDF page actually rotates the page. It saves the PDF with the rotation the user sets it to.
  • The left nav scrollable list is mimicked from the viewer they have today.

Fulcrum MCP server: connect AI tools directly to your shop data

Fulcrum now has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, a standard interface that lets MCP-compatible AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude Code connect directly to your Fulcrum data. If you're using any AI tool that supports it, you can connect it to your Fulcrum site and start querying your data and taking actions through natural language.

Because MCP is an open standard, you're not limited to Fulcrum data alone. You can connect Fulcrum alongside other tools — through their own MCP servers or APIs — and work across all of them in a single AI conversation.

Downloadable Inspection Plan

Your customers may require a document describing what your inspection plan is for a given part.  This release adds the ability to go to Job > Quality > Download > Plan to get a report of the In Process Tracking checkpoints for a job (without responses).  Note: the same dropdown also offers a download with responses (results).

Tool Serial Number Flexibility

Sometimes tools come in a kit and share a serial number.  This release removes the requirement for a serial number to be unique for a given tool.

In Process Tracking - Trailing Zeros and More Tolerance Types

Trailing Zeros - trailing zeros play a critical role in communicating the expected precision for a measurement. We’ve expanded in process tracking to track the precision across your targets and tolerances.

Tolerance Types - previously, Fulcrum primarily stored in process tracking targets as a target value with a min and max. Now, you’ll have the option to enter define an IPT checkpoint using a Limit (min, max, or range) or Tolerance (target with a +/-).

Meet Archie: AI that knows your shop and acts on it

Archie is an AI assistant built into Fulcrum. It has access to your live data: jobs, sales orders, quotes, purchase orders, invoices, customers, vendors, inventory, work orders, NCRs, schedule, shipping, receiving. It can answer questions, surface problems, and help you get things done.

It’s not a separate product or an add-on. It’s inside Fulcrum, in the chat panel, ready when you need it.

Archie is now in beta.

Import CMM measurements directly into Control

CMM reports already have the measurements your inspection plan needs. Now you can bring them into Fulcrum Control instead of re-entering them by hand.

Control AI: Vertical Parsing and Continuous Feature

There are a lot of times on drawings where the feature control frames or measurement information is oriented vertically because it flows better with the drawing.

However, our AI was not doing a great job at parsing out this information from the image because it was expecting the text to be readable from left to right.

We now take vertically oriented images and rotate them before parsing out measurement info so that we can get much more accurate results from image snippets taken vertically.
