Real-time Job Tracking in Fulcrum for Efficient Business Management

In this video, Fulcrum Marketing Vice President Nick Wassenberg shows how businesses can benefit from Job Tracking. Fulcrum's Job Tracking feature provides real-time data to business owners and production managers to make informed decisions on a daily basis.

The job tracking interface allows shop floor workers to log their time, record scrap, perform quality checkpoints, and share notes with the rest of the team. This real-time data is then used to update metrics such as labor and material costs, margins, and job progress.

Real-time data from the Job Tracking interface provides several benefits for businesses:

  1. Enhanced job view: Users can access a timeline of a job's progress, including real-time updates on labor costs, material costs, and margins, allowing for better decision-making and customer communication.

  1. Improved communication: Shop owners and production managers can view notes shared by workers, enabling them to address issues promptly and ensure jobs stay on track.

  1. Efficient operations report: A real-time operations live report monitors job progress, showing start times and alerting production supervisors to potential delays or issues.

  1. Smarter purchasing: Real-time updates on material usage enable businesses to make informed decisions about purchasing and inventory management.

  1. Comprehensive real-time tracking: Fulcrum’s Job Tracker enables real-time tracking for various aspects of the business, including status updates on the Autoschedule, sales orders, and job costing.

By leveraging Fulcrum's real-time Job Tracking capabilities, businesses can streamline operations, improve decision-making, and enhance overall efficiency.

Hi, I'm Nick and I'm here to show you job tracking in Fulcrum and how that impacts the real-time data that business owners and production managers use to make better decisions on a daily basis. What we're looking at here is the Job Tracking interface. So, if I'm on the shop floor and I'm doing the work, I'm tracking my time. So, I'm already logged in, the timer is ticking up and I'm working through parts. When I do that work, I can record scrap, I can do some quality checkpoints, I can see details, and I can actually jump in and provide notes to the people I work with as well. So, a ton of information is coming directly and in real-time from the Job Tracking interface that the people on the shop floor are using every day.

What that enables is, if we jump over to the jobs view, I can actually see the same job and what's happening. Here is I've got a view of the timeline of this job, and as the data continues to be fed from the shop floor, it's going to update these metrics in real-time. So, my labor costs, my material costs, my margins, and so forth. If I'm wondering where a job is at, say a customer calls and I need information about a particular job, I can have confidence that this is going to be live and in real-time because my team is tracking what's happening.

As a shop owner or as a production manager, I can also see those notes that somebody might be taking, and I can get insights into whether a job is on track or whether there's some issue that I need to dig into further. The other thing that typically is shown on a monitor actually in any given shop is this real-time operations report. So, since that job 1034 is running, I can see the estimates start to tick up, and I can see the timer go. This will show me if it's overestimate or if there's some other issue where it's paused, and I can see what's happening in real-time there as well.

Since each person that's working a job is also picking materials, there's another piece that's important that gets updated in real-time too. So, if I'm doing purchasing, I can see what is on hand, what we need to purchase, and I can collectively purchase smarter using that real-time information that's coming off of every job again in real-time.

Within Fulcrum, there's a ton of different areas where the real-time tracking shows up, whether it's the schedule or accounting and invoicing to personnel tracking in real-time, personnel availability, all of those things are tracked in real-time. I'd encourage you to check out some of the other videos that will show you more in-depth on some of those things. But hopefully, this gives you a sense of how we track information in real-time and how it feels the business.
