Product Showcase Video: BOM & Routing Imports and Edits in Fulcrum
Bill of Materials (BOM) & Routings define what you use to make a part and how you make it — the recipe. We're focused on continuing to make it as quick and easy as possible to add this recipe into Fulcrum because this information is the core of how the system understands and generates costing, scheduling, and time estimates for tracking.
There are three ways to build a BOM & Routing in Fulcrum:
1. Import a Solidworks, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or other part file to generate a BOM and then add operations
2. Build a BOM & Routing from scratch
3. Copy an existing BOM & Routing into a new item and edit
Product Designer Anna Erickson reviews the Fulcrum BOM & Routing editor and simple, quick ways to use it.

Intro
Hi, I'm Anna, a product designer at Fulcrum. In this video, I'm going to go over a few of the features we have that help speed up the quoting process and make it more automated.
First, you'll see our BOM and routing editor, and I'll show you how easy and flexible it is to use. Then I'll show you how you can leverage existing data in Fulcrum to help speed up quoting for more complex assemblies. Lastly, I'll show you our AI BOM uploader, which actually parses files and drawings you receive from your customers to automatically generate a bill of materials so you don’t spend hours inputting items into the system.
Editing a BOM & Routing
Okay, so let's take a look at the BOM and routing editor. Once you have an item that exists in Fulcrum, you can come into the item master and edit from there. I'll just click on this parent level and get this flyout with a list of items and materials that I can either click to add or drag in.
If I add something that I don’t want, I can easily just remove it. To edit the quantities, I can just click on that item and change it, and you'll see that cost roll up here.
To add operations, it’s the same—you just click on your operations tab, and you can click to add and rearrange as needed. You can click into the routing settings to delete operations you don’t want, or you can see what times you might have added or haven’t and edit from here.
For more complex assemblies, we have the functionality of importing items and operations from other items in your system. So let’s say I made something like this before. I can then just look that up here, and it will pull in all of the subassemblies and subcomponents right onto this BOM and routing. From here, I can come in and make whatever edits I need.
BOM Imports
Okay, let’s take a look at the AI BOM uploader. The AI BOM uploader exists on our quoting page, and to use it, you just need to add a new item and then drag in a drawing that you've received from a customer. This will automatically generate items in Fulcrum and add materials.
Now that item has been added to my quote, and I can click in here to view the bill of materials that's been created for it. It has no operations added, so I’ll want to come in and add whatever ones I need. Once I have this in, I can just save and close, and then continue to add items or send it off to my customer.

That’s all I have for today. Thank you so much for watching, and if you want to see more of our product overviews, check out the rest of our channel.
