Specify Default Lead Times for Vendors

When adding a material vendor to an item, or outside processing operation to a routing, we recommend adding a lead time for accurate scheduling. Previously, this needed to be done every time a vendor was added. Now you can add a default vendor lead time, which will auto-populate those values any time a vendor is added to an item or operation.

Print Labels for Shipments

As a part of the new shipping module, it is now possible to print labels for your shipment and your shipment line items. These labels are customizable within your Business Setup > Label settings, and available on the shipment Details tab (for shipment labels) and Pack List tab (for line items, once packed).

This feature is currently in testing. To be added to the beta please reach out to your account manager or launch manager.

In-Process Tracking Expansion for Quality Control

We’ve expanded the functionality of In-Process Tracking to help support additional quality control processes. In-Process Tracking steps can now be marked as “Restricted”. Only users with the new “Inspect Parts” permission will be able to fill out those steps - for all other users those field entries will be uneditable.

To make it easier for the user giving the sign off, we’ve added a quick “Switch User” button in the Job Tracking quality tracking screens.

We’ve also added the ability to mark an in-process tracking step as “First Articles Only." Job Tracking users will only need to fill out once and it can be used to trigger a quality check that needs to be completed near the start of a run.

Both of these features are being beta tested. Please let your launch or account manager know if you’re interested in signing up.

In addition, when there are required “Run” checkpoints specified on an operation, it will no longer be possible to complete individual units or add them to inventory until those checkpoints are filled out with a valid response (or the checkpoint is marked “allow out of tolerance completion”). That is, if an operation specifies a required “Run” checkpoint to be completed every unit, each unit’s checkpoint must be filled out before it can be completed or added into inventory. These last changes are live in the system today, but as always we welcome your feedback.

Get Notified By Email, Slack, or Teams when Things Change in Fulcrum

When things change in your shop you need to know about it. We’ve made it easier to stay on top of it all by adding Email, Slack, or Team notifications so that you can be informed even when you’re not in Fulcrum.

These notifications are set up in your Fulcrum user profile - you can choose to receive an email or to get notified via a Slack or Teams webhook when an event you subscribe to is triggered.

You can choose to get notified when a job or order is created or deleted by clicking on the bell on the matching grid. If you want to follow a particular order, there’s a bell there too.

This feature is only available on Fulcrum sites that have been migrated to SQL. If your site is on SQL and you’re interested in joining the beta group for this new feature, let your launch or account manager know.

Materials Beta: Search For Raw Materials and Items Together

Thank you to everyone who has been giving us feedback on our material database! We’re continuing to listen to what works and what doesn’t and one of the things that we’ve heard is that it feels like managing two inventory systems at once. We’ve taken a few steps toward bridging that gap. For most sites participating in the beta, you can now search for raw materials directly from the items grid and while adding items to a BOM and routing. Additionally, you can easily create particular cuts for a raw material directly from the items grid, making it even easier for you to work with our new database.

Customize Item QR Codes

You can now change the QR code that appears on item labels to encode different information to support your workflows. The first step is to upload a QR code as an image attachment to the item. Then, when printing a label for the item, simply select the QR code you want to include.

We’re beta testing this feature, so let your launch or account manager if you’d like early access.

Improved Access to Invoicing Data

We’ve made several updates to the invoice grid to enhance clarity and support more informed decision making:
- Future Invoice Indicator: New icon for future invoices indicates why they are needed.
- The Sales Order column now includes the Order Total for a clearer view of each order’s value.
- SO Balance Column: This column now displays a balance only if the row represents a future invoice, helping to easily identify outstanding amounts.
- Invoice Total Column: Displays the invoice total of existing or future invoices, without taxes, making invoice totals easier to track.
- Removal of Confusing Totals: We’ve removed the general Total column to reduce confusion around displayed values.

These enhancements directly support accurate calculation of Unissued and Needs Action KPIs directly from the values displayed on the grid.

Better Manage Users

We’re rolling out some more changes to make it easier for you to manage your users. The user details page is getting a major face lift to bring the UI up to date with other parts of the site, but we’ve also added a view into user permissions so you quickly understand what they’re allowed to view and edit in the system. We’ve also added an ability to edit profile pictures directly from the user edit page - especially useful for setting the photo for users who only have access to Job Tracking.

We’ll be launching this new details page over the next couple of weeks.

Nesting Work Orders - Looking for Beta Users!

We've been laser-focused on developing new features for sheet metal fabricators. A critical and unique step in fab shops is the cutting step, where parts from different jobs and sales orders can be nested together and cut.

We aim to seamlessly integrate this nesting workflow into Fulcrum, making it easier to identify what needs to be nested across orders and jobs. This will streamline the creation of Work Orders for cutting, with better filtering by material, thickness, and due date—plus, even suggest additional parts to nest in a given work order.

After creating the work order, you can quickly export all .DXF files to nest the parts in your preferred nesting software. Once the nest is created, upload the setup sheet back to the work order in Fulcrum. Our AI then extracts key details—such as machine run time, part sizes, material, and repetitions. This allows us to automate material picks, remnant creation, and deliver precise material costing for job costing in Fulcrum.

We're looking for customers interested in joining the beta for this new feature - let your launch or account manager know if you're in!

Login Record

We’ve created a new tool to help you track how users are accessing the system. You can find a record of who logged into the system and the method they used by clicking on “Logins” from the users grid.

Updated Users Grid

We’ve rewritten the users grid to make it easier to manage who has access to your Fulcrum site and how they can access it. In addition to a general update to the overall look and feel, the new grid hides inactive users by default and makes it easier to filter by role or status. We’ll be rolling out this new version of the user grid over the next couple of weeks.

Search by Jobs and Sales Orders in Purchasing Planning Grid

You can now search purchase planning by sales orders and jobs. The added search functionality works similarly to item search: enter the SO number or job number in the search bar. Adding the ability to search purchase planning by job and sales order number helps reduce friction by allowing you to purchase efficiently without having to click into each individual line item to see where the demand is coming from.

Include Input Lots in Auto-generated Lots

For shops that use our automated lot generation feature in job tracking, we’ve added a new variable to capture the lots of items that were picked when handling the job. This will make it a little easier for you to track your input material to your finished product.

Jump from the Jobs page to Job Tracking

You can now link from the Jobs page directly to Job Tracking. This will be handy whenever you want to quickly drill into details on quality, correct picking information, create rework, or take care of anything else you can only do from Job Tracking. The link can be found under the three dot menus on the details page.
